I've known a few Marcus' in my life and I've never thought of Marc being a nickname for it. Even outside the people I've known, I've never heard of this being a nickname.
I don't think people would automatically give Marcus a nickname, but if they did, Marc is the one they would pick. I imagine, in my perfect world where nicknames don't really exist, that most people would just call them Marcus.
I don't think most people will shorten it (Marcus is just one of those names that most people say full out), but if they do, Marc will be the nickname of choice.
I've known a couple of Marcuses (is that how it's written??)- some went by their full name, some didn't mind Marc.
Well, I am one of the few people that doesn't do "automatic nicknames" since I hate all the automatic ones for my name (Missy/Mel/Melly). I've known a couple of Marcuses that I never called "Marc", one Marc that ended up being short for Steven Marcus D----- and then a Mark that's not short for anything.
