Well, there are other variants of Andrew that Andy could be a nickname for. Andrei, Andre, Anders, etc. Those would probably be the most intuitive.

Andrea* or Andreas**.

*Pronounced the European way, An-DRAY-uh, not the English way of ANN-dree-uh. Although Andrea (english) is a girls name, Andrea (european) is unisex.

**Pronounced like the european version of Andrea, but with an s on the end!
