I have finally reached a state of tolerating Kaylie and its variants, though I would never use it. Cami, unfortunately, just sounds very dated to me. From what I understand, it was semi-popular in the 70's and 80's.
Cami is a cute nickname, but I wouldn't use it for a full name. Kaylie, etc. is so overdone imo. The only person I've known with that name spelled it Kayleigh. I guess if I had to choose, Kaylee would be my pick for the spelling.
Cami/Kamy (the latter looks weird) seems like a nickname. Makes me think of the Street Fighter character Cammy, too (and while she's kind of awesome, the name's not, imo). Kaylee/Kaylee/Caylee makes me think of a child or semi-ditzy teen...
like another poster, i think of camisoles when i hear "cami". however, i can see it working as a nickname for camille. i really don't like the name kaylie/etc, but i dislike it even more because of a bad experience with someone of that name.
They are baby (or baby doll) names... and tend to make me think of obnoxious spoilt blond toddlers who everyone except the parents avoid. Once they reach adulthood... no. Babyish and undignified.
I like Cami as a nickname for Camilla or another name, but not sure it stands well on it's own. I have a friend named Kayleigh and prefer that spelling, but I love the name!
