Is it too matchy-matchy to have siblings named with the same first initial? For example, my son is named Logan and we really like the name Lincoln if we have another boy. But is having two L-named children too cutesy? I always wanted to have different initials for siblings, but of course I had to fall in love with the name Lincoln after we already had Logan ::sigh::

Nope, I don't think it's too cutesy at all. I do think Logan and Lincoln are a little too close though, because they not only start with the same letter, they also end in the same sort of sound =).

This, pretty much. Same initials aren't too matchy, but Lincoln and Logan sound pretty similar.

I think it really depends on the names. Logan and Lincoln seem fine. But if it was a girl & a boy & the names were Gabriel & Gabrielle.. that might be too cutesy or a little odd. I also knew twins named Landon and London, and that threw me off a little because they're the same except one letter.

I think those two are too close. They both start with L, have two syllables, accent on the first syllable, same ending sound. Not a fan of the matchy-matchy.

I think it's fine. My brothers both have "A" names (the elder is named after our grandfather); sometimes it just happens.
I think it becomes cutesy/odd when you have three plus kids with the same initial (it starts to seem like a theme).

I think they're kinda close, in theory, but if you really like Lincoln, I don't see it as a real practical problem. It's not like the sounds would get confused, like calling one and have the other one respond, or anything.

I don't think it's cutesy. My sister and I are Amanda and Alyssa, our brother is Kevin... I love a lot of A names but the fact that my kids could have the same initial doesn't stop me from wanting to use the names.

It depends on the names. My sister and I are Megan and Mary-Jo. I don't think that's too close. But Logan and Lincoln are very similar, as some others pointed out. I think if it were, say, Logan and Lance, or Logan and Leonard, it wouldn't seem as bad.

If you like the name you like the name. I have three kids, two have E names, one has an A name. The only thing that bothers me is people who think my A child's name starts with an E just because of her siblings! If we had another boy, it was another E name, that would have been even worse, LOL, but a girl probably would have been a C or L or E, it just happened to be E names that I like the most; not something I did on purpose. Don't pick, or not pick a name, because you feel it might be too this or too that. Pick what you love.

With just two, I don't think it's so bad. But if you have a third kid, I'd steer clear of the L's because then it would start to get weird.

Lots of people do it, but I'm not a fan of families that share initials.

I don't think it's usually a problem, except that these two names start AND end with the same letters, so it is a bit much. I wouldn't call it cutesy, exactly, but I don't love it.

Normally I does not bother me, but Logan and Lincoln makes me think of Lincoln Logs.

Eeep, I'm dreading these answers because my two top favorite names for girls start with the letter Z. Which, really, wouldn't be *so* bad, except that our last name starts with Z too. I think people would think I was obsessed with alliteration. ;)

The same initial isn't necessarily so bad--but in this case, the fact that both names end in an "-n" makes it a tad too matchy.

I know of one case in which it really worked!
There's a family next door. The mother's name is Roberta, but she goes by Bobbi. The father's name is Brice. They have two children, Veronica and Robert. They go by Ronni and Robby. So that makes Brice, Bobbi, Ronni, and Robby.
Adorable family, really. <3

I would personally not be interested in sibsets started with the same letter, but it's not as bad as some other matchy sets.

I don't think that having the same initial letter is necessarily too matchy (my brother and I are John and Jamie) but I think that Logan and Lincoln are very similar. :/

I wouldn't set out to do it, but it might be happening to me as well -- we have a daughter Ezra, and we're planning Elspeth if we have a girl this time.

The only time I'm less fond of it is when it becomes a long run of names -- I've known a Jordan, Jesse, and Joshua, and another family with Hayden, Hannah, Haley, Hunter, and Hudson. But I think two names with the first initial -- especially if it's not a really unusual first initial, like Q -- isn't too matchy.

Also, my husband's entire immediate family all have names that begin with either "C" or "S," but it's never been commented on; that's not quite the same as what you're talking about, but he and his siblings' first initials are S--, C--, S--, S-- and it's definitely not too matchy.
