How super popular is the name Madden right now? It means Little Dog in gaelic, which I really like and my husband is part Irish. Middle name would be Patrick.

Paired with Cordelia Mae (potential girl name) and brother Israel Jameson.

It's moved from a rank of 803 to 575 in the last two years, which is quite a jump but not close to the level of Jacob.

You like the fact that it means Dog? is there special meaning to that?

I like all your name choices, I think they flow well together.

Madden is a very popular game, and to be honest the first thing I thought of was John Madden - I'd bet that almost everyone would associate it with him and the games.

I've never known anyone with this name. I'm not crazy about it, but I liked it more once you mentioned the meaning.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Cordelia.

Not a fan of the football player or the video game or the name (which is really a last name that has only recently been used as a first name due to the football player).

This is why I don't like it:

madden
–verb (used with object)
1. to anger or infuriate: The delays maddened her.
2. to make insane.

And PS I also love Cordelia! Great choice for a daughter.

How about Maden?

Additional info:

Breton personal name; it is derived from the Gaelic word for "good".

Saint Maden was a monk in Armorique (Brittany) in the 6th century.

The name has the same roots as Breton name Madeg, and it is possibly a form of Welsh Madoc.

Mad-en (I suck at this by the way but I pronouce them the same)

I really liked the nn Mad and went looking for non-Maddox names and found it. I like Maddox though...and Angelina Jolie....it was just getting too popular...of course...I don't have kids....so its a moot point lol

I agree with most of the people who posted about the video game Madden. I always see the commercial about it and a lot of guys I know are obsessed with the game so I personally don't like it. But I do love Cordelia :o)

I'm not sure about the popularity, but I don't like it.
I immediately thought of John Madden and the video game series named after him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madden_NFL

Madden '10 on Xbox is my husband's new favorite hobby, so...no, I could never get past that association.
