[identity profile] fellclutch.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
A few weeks ago, I posted about Ever Carradine naming her baby girl Chaplin...

Tonight at work (the engraving store), I encountered this gem - Chapelyn. Pronounced just like Chaplin. I think it was a girl and I think it was a new baby or a young child. But to me, it looks like it'd be pronounced differently.

Thoughts?

I know English is a difficult enough language, but there are some rules. Adding an e at the end almost always makes the first vowel have a long sound. That's CHAYP lin.

LOL Chape-lyn pronunciation sounds so odd. Like chaffing or something. Or like chapped lips.

I'd say Chayp-lyn.
Shouldn't have stuck that "e" in there~, haha.

Would've pronounced it Chayp-Lin. Either way - awful name :( The sound "chap" in any name makes me think if chapped lips or chapstick...
