I am obsessed right now with the name Catriona, but I'm not sure exactly how to say it. I've heard it is pronounced like Katrina, but some people say that it involves the Gaelic half-syllable, and comes out as "Ka-TREE-uh-na." What do you guys think? To be completely honest, I like the second way better, but if I am going to add this to my list, I want to get it right.

According to Babynamesofireland (http://www.babynamesofireland.com/pages/girl-names-a-c.html) it's just Katrina. Not bad, if you ask me, just a little boring.

I read it as Ka-TREE-uh-na, or even Ka-TREE-Oh-na.

But I almost always get Gaelic pronunciations wrong, names where I know the pronunciation sound different in my head when I read them.

Kat-TREE-oh-na.

That is my cousin's daughters name. She's 5 or 6. They call her Caitie for short. And she's a DOLL!

Cat-TREE-oh-na.

That name reminds me of a Canadian speed skater with that name, and I always loved the way it sounded.

I must add it's a pretty reliable source when it comes to pronunciations.

I'd probably end up saying say Cat-tree-oh-na.
I don't like it (or Katrina, if that's what it really is).

Did some more googling.

these English/Scottish people (http://nl.forvo.com/word/catriona_maccoll#en) pronounce it like Katrina as well, this (http://inogolo.com/pronunciation/Catriona) website says Katree-un-uh. Like Katrina with a slight extra vowel.
