Do you like it?

Love it?

Hate it?

Don't care either way?

Have some other opinion of it?

Discuss!

It's one of the final four names on our list and I can't decide if I love it or hate it (there's fine line between love and hate, ya know).

I'm not a big fan. I know a baby named Atticus.

Sounds like the kid comes from the attic...

I liked it because of the literature connection at first. The name grew on me and now I love the feel of it.

I really like this name a lot. It's on my 'guilty pleasures' list, but only because my wife thinks it's too out-there or whatever. Granted, it's a bit uncommon and I can't really think of a shortened form/NN for it, but I still think it is a great name. If you're on the fence about it, maybe it'd be better as a middle name. I have a friend that used it as such for her son.

I LOVE this name! It's one of my favorites :) I think it's really cute and I love the literary connection, too. I like a lot of literary names, though. I always thought that Atticus Sawyer made a great combo.

i just can't separate it from To Kill a Mockingbird. If i had heard it in another context, i probably would think it was too old fashioned and strange sounding but given that i know it's literary roots, that's all i can think of it as.

so either way i doubt i would use it. Though i do like it better because it's from such a great book.

I don't know if I like it. I don't love it. I don't hate it. It's not the most awful thing I've ever heard. But it almost makes me think of Anikan Skywalker from the Star Wars movies. lol.

And really -- I know that's ridiculous, because the names are nothing alike. But that's what comes to mind. I apologize for my weird preggo brain. It's fried. For sure.

I think it's a little pretentious, but I don't hate it. All my negative assumptions are towards the parents that picked it, not the kid that got saddled with the name.

no not at all, mostly because there is no nickname to fall back on.

I would never use a name so trendy that it's popularity curve looked like a (and I'll bet you anything it gets even more so once the 2010 figures are out)... but the sound itself isn't too bad, I suppose. ()

And what happened to my HTML?!

I would never use a name so trendy that it's popularity curve looked like a cliff (http://www.babynamewizard.com/voyager/#prefix=attic&ms=false&exact=false)...

not hugely keen on the sound of it but I do like the associations (there are certainly worse characters to be names after).

Don't hate it or love it. I feel like people who use it do so for the sole purpose of proving exactly how literary they are.

I love it!!
When I worked at daycares 10-11 years ago (wow, I'm getting old) I knew a kid named Atticus. I fell in love with that name!.
We called him Atty.

I really love Atticus in theory, but I don't think that I would use it for my child. Although To Kill a Mockingbird is pretty standard required reading in most high schools, I still think most people see it as a "weird" name. I would definitely use it on a pet, but I would probably use a more "normal" name for my child. Just a personal preference since I already have a weird last name.

I hate To Kill a Mockingbird, so I wouldn't use it, but I think it's a fine name.

It's my #1 one for a boy at the moment but my partner has vetoed it. I'm quite sad about it, really!

Absolutely love it. One of my top combos is Desmond Atticus - I think it works better in the middle name slot (maybe just because I can't think of anything I love for a middle name for it).

I was thinking about this name the other day; I kind of like it. =)
It used to make me think of To Kill a Mockingbird all the time, but I'm able to think about it without the automatic literary connotation now.

I like it in theory but most people will see it as a weird name. It'll really depend on whether the kid is cool enough to own the name, cause I can see a nerdy kid named Atticus being made fun of very quickly.

If you really love the name use it as a middle name.

Total guilty pleasure name for me! I would never actually have the guts to use it because of the literary connotation. I might consider it as a middle name, though!
