I was watching Medium last night (okay, early this morning), and the girl had a necklace that said "Tara". The characters kept calling her tar-uh. I've always heard it pronounced tare-uh.

How do you pronounce it?

I say Tare-uh, but I've probably heard it pronounced just as often both ways.

I've heard both, but I stick with Tare-uh because of Gone with the Wind.

I usually pronounce it Tare-uh.
I've heard it both ways, though. I don't like either.

Tar-uh is how we say it in Australia...I've only heard it pronounced Tare-uh by Americans on TV and stuff.

I say Tare-uh unless I'm told otherwise. I do know a couple people who go by Tar-uh.

In high school I knew a girl named Tara. She pronounced it tare-uh, but all the teachers always read it as tar-uh and she had to correct them.

tare-uh is american, tar-uh is british. and i guess austrailian too, based on the comments.

it was actually one of our names (pronounced the american way, rhymes with sarah) for awhile, but ended up not working out. i still love it though.

This. Tare-uh doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I always said Tar-uh, probably because I went to middle school with a girl who pronounced it that way.

I would pronounce it Tar-uh until told otherwise. I do know women with the name, some who say Tar-uh and some Tare-uh.

I always ask how people want it pronounced because I've known Tar-a's and Tare-a', and both were very particular on the pronunciation.

I'm from New Zealand and we pronounce it tah-rah/similar to American tar-uh but with less emphasis on the 'r'.

A woman I work with spells it Tara and half the people in the office call her tar-ah, which the other half call her tare-ah. I say tare-ah. Interestingly enough, I don't actually know how she truly pronounces it and I've worked with her for almost a year. lol.

For me, it looks just like Sara(h). I've never heard that pronounced sahr-a. Although I have heard Tara pronounced both ways
