A family friend and his wife had their first daughter together over the weekend, and I have been waiting to see the exact spelling of it to share it with all of you: Kahlin Gwendolyn; Gwendolyn after the child's late grandmother (edited to include pronunciation: Kay-lin, as best as I know).

At first, when she came back from visiting them, my mother thought it was Caden, and I swore a little. Then she thought it might've been something like Kaylee/its various spellings. But their Facebook was updated today, and it is Kahlin Gwendolyn.

Which I still think is pretty horrible. My mom thinks it's a nice name, just with a bad spelling, but I think it's just a bad name. WDYT?

If it's meant to be pronounced like Kay-lin, I think the name itself isn't bad. The spelling makes me want to say it as Kah-Lin and I'm not a fan of that.

I'm not a fan of Kaylin/Cailin/etc anyway, but that spelling is especially bad. I would've assumed the pronunciation was Kah-lin.

It looks like a weird spelling of Collin. KAY-lin is the third pronunciation I came up with, actually. CAL-in was the second.

I really like Gwendolyn.

I prefer Kahlan, which is legit, but I honestly think it's kind of cute.

So it's like Colin? But on a girl and spelled terribly? Heck, I don't even really like Gwendolyn, but at least it's a normal name!

WOAH that doesn't even make sense. Why is there an h? That makes it a short a. GAH, as if misspelling doesn't bother me enough, using phonetics incorrectly REALLY does!

A quick Google seemed to suggest it's Irish.

Yeah...it definitely does not look remotely like Kay-lin.

And it rhymes, so I'm not a fan.

On the plus side, Gwendolyn is nice...

I'm pronouncing it Kah-lin/Collin...
Kay-lin, I hate.
Gwendolyn is okay.

Gwendolyn is my second favorite female name (if I was to have a second daughter I would name her Gwendolyn (I don't even have 1 daughter yet, ha)). Sad that it's paired with Kahlin.
