Library Gem

For once, I feel today's library gem is actually a gem! A little girl, 7 or 8, named Avalon Rose. I'm partial to "pressed flower" names myself (Alice, Charlotte, Tobias), so Avalon isn't something I would use, but I did find it unexpectedly awesome.

Just now: little girls, sisters, age 3.5 and 2 years old. Named Katie and Perry. Nothing wrong with either name, but together?? And it's not like they're ten-year-olds, named before anyone had heard of Katy Perry. I guess maybe the parents just loved both names and are banking on the celebrity flaming out before it becomes a problem for their kids, but... definitely not what I would do.

I totally agree about Rose as a middle name. :(

It's a shame because Rose is such a lovely, lovely name. Seeing it as a *first* name is still refreshing and unusual!
