Jul. 23rd, 2010 08:16 amI'm 8 weeks pregnant with our second child, & my husband & I have been trying to figure out some names. My husband really likes Zoe; it's okay, but I don't love it.
If it's a girl, we've almost decided on Emery Jean (Jean is my grandma's name & I like the way the name sounds; it sounds classic to me). For a boy, we like Avery, but our first son is Aiden & I always get a little weirded out when families do alliterations. I'm pretty set on using Jean as a middle name & I don't think Zoe flows with it as well as Emery. If we go with Zoe, I think we might use Rose as a middle name--my husband's grandma.
We don't have any middle names picked out for boys. Our first son's middle name is Taylor--my husband's first name--so I wouldn't know where to go with that.
Also, my husband thinks we should use Emery Gene if it's a boy. I don't see Emery as a boy name at all.
WDYT?

Date: 2010-07-23 03:33 pm (UTC)My husband and I are both A's, and it just so happens that the two other girl names we like start with A's, too, except for the name we're naming our in utero daughter! None of the boy names we like start with A, though.
I think Emery can be a cute name for both :) And I LOVE Avery :)

Date: 2010-07-23 05:47 pm (UTC)I don't think Aidan and Avery are too close, and since you're not specifically picking them to go with a theme I don't think it's a big deal. My sister and I both have M names and my brother doesn't, and I know a sibset of Emma, Elijah, and Luke.

Date: 2010-07-23 07:47 pm (UTC)Emery on a girl just sounds like someone can't say Emily. I think Emery works much better on a boy. I also like the name Emerson, for which Emery could be a nickname.
As far as using Gene for a boy's middle, I don't know. Aiden Taylor is so modern sounding, and Emery Gene sounds more dated. I think Emerson Avery would go well with Aiden Taylor.
