Name my kitten...

Okay, so I don't need a name for an actual baby... just for my kitten baby. My roommates and I adopted a cat about two and a half months ago. Said cat was pregnant (we didn't realize this until we brought her home. Ooops!). We swore we wouldn't keep a baby, but I fell in love with the first one born, a sweet little blonde-colored girl. I finally convinced the roommates that we ought to keep her. But of course, we can't decide on a name for her.

She's the one all the way on the right, with her little arm hanging out. This picture was probably like a week and a half ago... I'd go take another picture of her right now, but I think she's asleep...he's much cuter now. She's the prettiest of the kittens (there's five total. Ugh. Sooo much fun, but more than we bargained for when we found cute stray mama cat and brought her home. Didn't even think we'd end up with HER let alone five babies. All except one of the others have homes lined up though, if anyone's curious). She was the first one born. She's the smallest, but none of them are runts or anything... it's just that the one boy in the litter is a monster, lol. And she has extra toes. haha. This probably shouldn't affect her name (though right now, we call her "Freak Baby"), but it makes her super-special. It's why I picked to keep her. Extra toes like mama cat. :)

The mother cat's name is Phoebe. It took us like three days to come up with a name for her, as we're very indecisive. She's technically my cat, but I wanted something that my roommates and I could all agree on. Same with the kitten. She's mine, and I could call her "Princess Fuzzybutt" if I REALLY wanted to, but I won't. We're all big into names, and think she deserves something pretty. I have a thing for two-syllable names for pets, and think something sort of matchy with Phoebe (and no, all the names from "Friends" and "Charmed" are out of the question, because either we don't like them or one of us plans to use them one day).

Some names that have been tossed around are: Daphne, Chloe, Emma (but I want to use this for a baby one day I think, so I don't think it's a good idea), M'Lynn (from "Steel Magnolias"), Bridget, Grace/Gracie, Charlotte (Charlie?).

Suggestions? Must be actual female names. No "pet" names.

I love so many of those names. A lot of them are on either me or my roommates' name lists, lol. Or their names of our relatives, lol. Of those though, I am throwing Tess, Ella, and Belle/Bella into the possibility pile. :)

Our cat is called Phoebe too :) When we got a new kitten we agreed that we'd call it Sophie if it was female.. we thought they sounded good together. In the end we got a male kitten though, and we called him Dylan.
I think you should keep Emma for a potential baby, it sounds like a very human name. I like Daphne and Grace for a cat.

Aww, I like Sophie. One roommate had a dog called Sophie (they actually had a set of sister dogs - Cassie and Sophie).

I like all those too. Ahhh, it's so HARD! When I have actual babies, I am going to have SUCH a hard time picking names!

That's why I liked Chloe, too. I think Chloe and Phoebe go together. My one roommate HATES it though. Not even just dislikes... she HATES it. Though if I'd had my way originally, the kitten would be called "Cricket," because I saw that on babynames.com (seriously. ERR!), and though I think it's an AWFUL name for a child, it could be cat-ish.

I would use a name that you love but, for whatever reason, can't use on a little girl. E.g., maybe it's too hard to spell or pronounce for others, would inspire teasing, doesn't sound good with the last name. This is your chance to use it with no consequences!

I have a 4 month old blonde little boy named "Zephyr", but he was going to be "Iris" if he was a girl!! Since it means "Rainbow", it'd sound great with "Pheobe"...

Aw... Zeph was part of a litter of 5 as well! His mom looked very similar to your Pheobe except she was 1/2 persian so she had really long hair and a pushed in nose... same calico markings though! 3 girls - 1 black/white, 1 calico, 1 grey/white ("Rose" - a good friend has her), and 2 boys - 1 beige/white ("Zephyr" - my lil guy) and 1 orange ... they were my dad's, I was soo sad when they all grew up, they're such angels.

We don't know what Phoebe's background is like, since we just sort of picked her up, lol. But our baby is like blonde with darker ears and tail. One little girl is a grey tabby. One looks like she'll end up being a dilute calico (she's grey with light tannish and white markings). The other girl is a siamese (NO denying that. She's a picture of a siamese cat.It's funny!). And the only boy is white (not pure white, but real light-colored) with dark ears and tail, and we think he'll end up going Siamese as well. Which is amusing because I was hanging out near where we found Phoebe one day right before the babies were born, and I saw a Siamese wandering around. I was like "man, if we have siamese babies..." lol. Sure enough.

AWWW!!! I love cats (well sort of because I was attacked by a cat when I was 2 so sometimes I don't like them) but unfortunatly my mom and I are allergic :( But anyway I like Sadie, and Josie (Josie is my name but I don't care I also think of Josie and the Pussycats so yeah)or for some reason Barbie, was the first thought on my head.

I can't imagine what would have happened to these poor kittens if you guys hadn't found Phoebe and taken her in. Anyway, I'm with you on the no "pet" names thing! I love Emma (it's my kitty's name too!), but if you really want to use it for a baby one day, I wouldn't use it for your kitten. I love Grace/Gracie and Charlotte. Chloe is really cute, too. I tried to convince my boyfriend to name our new kitten Chloe but he didn't like it. :(

I like Emma. I'm not sure how likely I'd be to use it one day, only because it's SO popular (I liked it before it was this popular. I swear, lol). A girl at work calls me Emma, because we were talking about baby names one day, and I said my favorite names for girls are Hannah and Emma. She said Emma is the ugliest thing she's ever heard. I think she's out of her mind, because she told me when I have a baby, I should give her a "good" name, like "Precious." Yeah, that wouldn't sound stupid. lol. But yeah, she's sort of ruined the name Emma for me, by telling me how ugly it is. Not that I particularly care for her opinions... she DID suggest Precious for a BABY. :-X
