Jul. 14th, 2006 08:18 amI have several things to post, so I'm going to do it in one so I'm not a post-whore today=)
1.) A couple of friends and I were watching a scrolling list of names of babies that were born this week in our city. Some of the "good" ones:
Ryle Edward (so.. is this Rile or Riley?)
Kyleigh Rainne
Camren
Camree
Emma Jean (not bad, just nms)
that's all I remember for now
2.) My best friend was telling me of a woman she knows. The woman's mother was strung out on drugs when she was born. It was a rainy day and the mom wanted it to be a sunny day. So, she gave her daughter the name Sunny Day. (Kinda reminds me of Sesame street). When Sunny had her son several years later, she decided that she would name him John Pooter, because she had a lot of gas during her pregnancy. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. =\
3.) Again, my best friend and I were talking about names and she said she couldnt really think of a lot of good names that go with Anthony. Her husband's name is Anthony and they want to use Anthony as their sons middle name. They like the name Zack Anthony, but if anyone knows any other names that sound good with Anthony she'd love to hear them.
4.) Ainsley Brynn, Ainsley Briann/Bryann/Breann, Ainsley Brianna/Bryanna/Breanna-- which is your top choice? And related to that... is it horrible to give my daughter the initials ABM?

Date: 2006-07-14 01:47 pm (UTC)Rile Edwards- (if its Rile.. Sounds kinda nice)
Kyleigh Rainne- Meh.. a little to creative for me..
Camren- kinda looks like it's missing a vowel or something.. NMS
Camree- Sounds okay out loud, but I don't like the spelling..
Emma Jean- cute, kinda plain... and it makes me think Michael Jackson (Billie Jean is not my lover...)
Sunny Day?... I could stand it if it had some sort of real meaning, but a cracked out mom so doesn't count... John Pooter?.. that's just not right..
David Anthony
Blake Anthony
Chase Anthony
Craig Anthony
Liam Anthony
William Anthony
Russell Anthony
Spencer Anthony
I think I like... Ainsley Brynn. None of the names are my style at all but that one sounds best. I don't think ABM will be bad initials... I can connect a couple things to it, but nothing that a child will think of...

Date: 2006-07-14 02:10 pm (UTC)I can't pronounce Ainsley. Is it Aynes-lee? I don't really like it, but I like it with Brynn. ABM is noth bad.
Pair with Anthony:
Barron
Blake (I repeat it from above because I love it!)
Christopher
Charles (nn Chaz!)
Darren
Jack
Joshua
Karl
Kale (some ppl in this comm like it...not me, but maybe your friend)
Luke
Nole
Parker (I like this!)
Preston
Quinn (I prefer for a girl...)

Date: 2006-07-14 02:20 pm (UTC)I don't like Ainsley very much. It's cute... on a little girl, but not a woman.
I know two Ainsleys in their twenties, so it's not as if I can't imagine it on an adult. But their name is just so... cutesy. One of them usually goes by her middle name, which is Elizabeth, because it's not as cotton-candy-and-pigtails.
Someone who knows more about Welsh might correct me - but isn't Brynn a boy's name?

Date: 2006-07-14 06:43 pm (UTC)But then again, I believe so was Ainsley.

Date: 2006-07-14 07:22 pm (UTC)But isn't the -yn ending traditionally masculine, and -en feminine, or something? I don't think Ainsley is "marked" like that.
(Yes, I am one of those people who hates Madison because it means "son of Maud" ;) )

Date: 2006-07-14 02:21 pm (UTC)2. Sunny isn't the worst name ever.. it could have been a lot worse, I just don't like that it sounds like "Sonny"
3. I suck at coming up with boy names, Zack Anthony is bad.. it sounds nice, but the kid should get the dignity of a full name.
4. I don't like Ainsley, at all.. it reminds me of "anus" but I'm weird, probably. I think I'd avoid the initials ABM, unless the AB name was so perfect you couldn't imagine using anything else.. and even then I'd reconsider.
Wow, I feel like my whole reply was sooo negative. Brianna is nice. =)

Date: 2006-07-14 03:23 pm (UTC)ABM doesn't really bother me. I work with a guy who's initials are BM, but he's an ass so I guess it works out.
I like Ainsley Brynn best, mostly because I don't really like Breanne or any of it's varients at all. What about just "Ainsley Bree" depending on what your last name sounds like? I don't think the double EEE noise sounds too bad in that combination.
I think Jacob Anthony sounds nice though.

Date: 2006-07-14 04:39 pm (UTC)I thought you were worried because her initials would stand for 'Automatic Bank Machine'...

Date: 2006-07-14 05:38 pm (UTC)On the initials thing, I figured if enough people knew what I was talking about it would be thrown out the window.. but it seems I'm just a freak and other people's brains dont work the way mine do *grin* As I mentioned above, Ainsley is our #3 girls name, so it may not even come in to play, but if it does I'm sure I'll do some more name pairing before I finalize it.
