I just found this list of names I made way back in 2001 when my parents got a puppy (Border Collie) and asked me to think of some names. Try to guess what name they chose.

Yep! In my opinion they chose the most obvious dog-like name on the list. It was actually the one I liked the least. My parents still have her and Scout fits her, though. Their second choice was Quimby.

I like Scout, as an actual name for boys. I'd have to guess for the dog, they used either Scout or Elizabee.

Elizabee is so cute (for a dog- would not use on a human)!!! Was Quimby inspired by Ramona? I like it (again, for a pet's name). My 5 year old is reading me Ramona the brave at this exact moment as I space out with my iPhone :}

Yeah looking at that list now I don't really know how I got Mellie out of Amelia. And yes Quimby was inspired by Ramona, Amelia was inspired by Amelia Earhart, Anais after Anais Nin, Scout after To Kill A Mockingbird, Cosette after Les Miz, Basilica after a Jawbreaker song, and Esme after a JD Salinger story.

Amelia, Anais (given the proper ethnic background), Cosette (same as Anais), and Camille are great. The rest are utter boring, suburban, white, nonsense.

So I guess what I'm trying to get at is: what's your ethnic background? what are some names that are predominant in your family? Where is your husband from? What's his ethnic background? What's yours? Etc.
