What's the most interesting, truly unique (not a 'creative' spelling, a food, etc) thing that you'd dare to name your kid?
If you don't like unique names, why not?

Can you tell I'm looking for name ideas? lol.

By the way of a side note, this community has 666 members. Scary.

maybe i'm boring but i wouldn't venture far past anything that hasn't been used before, anything that is a tongue-twister or just downright impossible to say or anything contemporary.

For the most part I've always liked classic names, but my guilty pleasure names are Kamdyn for a girl, and Keegan for a boy, although I don't think I could ever actually use them.

I think the most original/unique names (around here, at least) that I'm considering are Xavien, Orion, Lysander, Oberon, Azriel, and Euan. I haven't noticed any of those names on the local birth announcements or online nurseries and I've only ever met one person with any of those names (Orion).. I think that's about as far out as my naming ideas go.

It depends on what you mean by truly unique. I'd gladly name my daughter Idina, Valeria or Ileana; those are all family names, not anywhere near the top lists and not even on most baby names sites/books. I'd name a son Janusz. All heritage, family and tradition related. Some of the names I like, and would use, are unique that way. But not anything of the LeMeSheKaya sort.

And Wicked. Of course.

THAT'S why I'll NEVER get to use it. Everyone'd be all "Menzel? Take Me Or Leave Me?!" And I'd be like, "No, Rosenfeld... Romania."

(I'm a Chenoweth fan myself :-p)

I think Rafferty is a GREAT name for a boy.

Boy: Almanzo. Yes, it was a proper name before Little House... and wasn't restricted solely to his family; yes, it would be in tribute; no, I wouldn't actually do it IRL!

Girl: my 'way-out' names for girls are almost all pretty traditional Italian girls' names, they're just a little bit too unusual in our culture (Concetta, my grandmother's middle name, for instance, or Giannina, which would get mispronounced to hell and back). The other odd one I like is Frideswide, who is the patron saint of our city. Her name is also rendered as Frevisse, Frithuswith, Fris, Fredeswida, but none of them are quite acceptable to me. But I really like the idea of using the name for a child born here - it means 'peace and strength'. Her mother's name was Safrida which I also like.

I like non common names, but not 'too unique' of names. Why? because they sound weird, and look weird.

My grandma's sister. I meant that the kid would be named after family, but everyone would end up thinking her mom is a bent Broadway baby (which isn't far from the truth, but I wouldn't go so far as to name a child after Idina Menzel!)

I love the name Atticus for a boy, but I don't think I'd ever do it.

I'm not too big on unique girl names.
