Leah

What do you think of the name Leah?

I think it looks nicer as Lia but then it looks like a totally different name.
I'm so undecided about it - on one hand it's a bit bland and nothing, doesn't really stand out... on the other hand it is a really sweet classic refreshing name.

I'd use it as a nickname for Ophelia. Spelled Lia of course.

It's my sister's name.

I like it. It's sweet but not overly girly and frilly (not that there's anything wrong with those names, because I also like those, but it's just refreshing).

Lia does look like a totally different name.

I love leah

Leah has been one of my favorites since I was little!

I think it's beautiful, prefer it to Lia actually, it just has more depth...

I love both.

I have always liked the name Leah. Hubs hates it because it is his cray-cray ex-girlfriend's name, so sadly...no leah :(

I like Leah much much better than Lia.

It's not horrible or anything, but I don't like it.

I didn't use to like it, but it has totally grown on me!
I agree that it looks much prettier than Lia, my only problem with it is its meaning :/

Personally, I love it.

I think it's beautiful, not bland at all! I much prefer it spelled Leah.

I like it a lot. It's a little too bland for me to use, but beautiful nonetheless. I like the Leah spelling much better...Lia is kind of a 40 year-old lady's name here.

It's nice, but I'd pronounce it differently than Lia. Lia, to me, would be lee-a, and Leah would be lay-uh.

I like it, but don't love it.

I think it's nice and definitely prefer that spelling over Lia. Lia is the name of a car dealership where I live that gave me some pretty rotten service, so I have a bad connotation with it anyway.

[identity profile] satunian.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It's ok. Like you, I prefer Lia much more and yeah it does look and feel like a totally different name. I noticed I have an affinity to girls' names ending in "ia", both sound and spelling wise so I guess Lia appeases that preference in ways Leah cannot. Plus I also tend to not like the letter H, so, "-ia" vs "-h". "ia" wins!

[identity profile] satunian.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Also I think I don't care for Leah as much because while I know it's pronounced "lee-uh" I want to say it as a one syllable name. Like "yeah" but with an L instead of a y. Or like "Bleah" without the B, haha. hmmm, maybe that's yet another reason I don't care for it; it's a B short of disgust lol.

[identity profile] solitudete.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm biased against it because I've known a couple Leahs and they were super obnoxious. Oh wait, I don't like Lia either because the Lia I know is equally awful... guess I can't win with that one.

[identity profile] thejoysofjess.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I love it. I'd use it if it went better with my last name (Something about the ah sound in leah and the "sh" sound in my last name drives me nuts).

[identity profile] duckduckcaboose.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Leah. Lia looks more nicknamey.

[identity profile] fellclutch.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
My name is Leah, and it's only within the last few years that I've really grown to love it. I used to hate it, since I knew so few other girls with my name. Interestingly enough, my parents were going to spell it L-I-A until the very last minute. As a kid, I always wanted to change it back to that spelling.

[identity profile] kitchen-poet.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
I've always liked Leah, but I like Rachel a bit better. Also, I tend to think of Leah (spelled that way) as strictly a Jewish name, but only because the Leahs I know are all Jewish.

I think of Lia as a completely different name, and I don't like that spelling, but it is SO SO much better than something like Leigha or Leyhah! Somebody on my facebook just named her daughter Ryelie Leeyah, which looks awful.
