I must be nuts
Jul. 7th, 2010 05:34 pmBecause I've composed a list. K, so, you know on www.babynames.com, how you can look at the last 100 user lists, and vote on names?
I'm kind of obsessed with listing things in alphabetical order. Yeah, yeah, time I could have spent studying or reading for school or something, but ... what I've done is composed a list of names which people have on their lists that they are considering for their baby. I didn't write down middle names, because I know some people have names that they would use for middles that they wouldn't use for firsts. And if someone has different combinations with the same name, they only get it written down once. Basically, the object is to see what the most popular prospective names are for children. I know that not everyone who has a list over there is pregnant or necessarily having a child anytime soon, but they obviously are considering these names for children.
Anyway, without further ado! The most popular names for girls!
The most popular name is Charlotte, on twelve name lists.
Behind that is Ella, on ten.
Coming up behind at nine are Caroline, Harper, Lucy, Olivia, and Violet.
There were eight each of Audrey, Ava, Emma, Isla, and Ivy.
Seven of Amelia, Avery, Ruby, and Tessa.
Six of Addison, Adeline, Annabel, Clementine, Felicity, Gemma, Genevieve, Isabella, Juliet, Lila, Lucia, Madeleine, Matilda, Nora, and Stella.
Five of Abigail, Adelaide, Alice, Carys, Claire, Eden, Evelyn, Georgia, Madison, Quinn, Savannah, and Sophia.
Four of Alexis, Anna, Cora, Cordelia, Delaney, Delilah, Eleanor, Eliza, Elodie, Eloise, Esme, Eva, Fiona, Frances, Gabrielle, Hazel, Iris, Josephine, Kate, Lilah, Linden, Lydia, Maren, Natalie, Reese, and Scarlett.
Three: Annika, Asha, Aspen, Aubrie, Aurora, Bailey, Beatrice, Bella, Cadence, Calla, Camille, Cecily, Chloe, Clara, Daphne, Elizabeth, Elyse, Emilia, Evangeline, Eve, Francesca, Freya, Giselle, Grace, Hailey, Hannah, Hayden, Isobel, Julia, June, Kaia, Katherine, Kylie, Laurel, Layla, Leah, Leila, Liv, Luna, Madeline, Margaret, Maya, Meredith, Mia, Michaela, Miranda, Olive, Paisley, Phoebe, Sarah, Sydney, Sylvia, Viola, Vivienne, Willow, and Zoe
I do have the names that appeared on two lists, and just one, as well. However, they're really long - especially the names that appeared on just one name list, and I didn't know if anyone else would be interested in this beside myself, anyway. They're also the most interesting, I think - lots of ~yewneek~ spellings and made up/lesser known names. If anyone wants me to, I'll post them, for sure! I just didn't want to make this a whole novel :p And this is just the girls! Again, I won't bother with the boys unless anyone else is interested.

Ella
Harper, Lucy, Olivia, and Violet.
Ava, Emma, Isla, and Ivy.
Ruby
Adeline, Gemma, Lucia, Madeleine
Eden, Evelyn, Georgia (although this is the state in which I currently reside so it would only ever be a middle for me even if I move), and Sophia.
Cordelia, Delilah, Eva, Iris, Kate, Natalie, Reese, and Scarlett.
Aspen, Aurora, Cadence, Chloe, Evangeline, Katherine (though I prefer Catherine), Kylie, Maya, Mia, Sarah, Sydney, Willow, and Zoe
I feel so geeky because I like the name Cordelia and the name Willow. Oddly enough though, I liked them BEFORE I ever watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I only started last month- it's streaming on Netflix).
I'd like to see the other names (especially the "unique" names currently under consideration) when you get the chance.
