I was just facebook stalking and suddenly remembered this

The girls in my high school, when we were probably about sophomores, took it upon themselves to change their own names to kre8ive spelling. The two that I remember are Laci changing her name to Layc, and Kelly changing her name to Kelè.
Now here it is 8 years later and they are still using those spellings.
WDYT? Would you ever use ~Layc~ or ~Kelè~ ?

I would never use those spellings, as both of those names are NMS.
I knew a girl in high school who changed her name from Brittany to Britni.

Those are horrible spellings. They don't look good, and they don't even convey the pronunciation these people are going for. Layc looks like a typo, or a really bad spelling of Lake, and the accent on Kelè wouldn't make the right sound.

I agree! With some (a lot) imagination Layc could still be Lacey, but Kelè would never make the Kelly sound.

Exactly. I knew a girl whose actual given name was Kelle (with an accent on the e), and it was pronounced Kell-a (since I suck at typing pronunciations, "a" as in "May")

What do I think? I think...hope, they don't have kids any time soon until they grow up, which will obviously be never as they are my age and still idiots.

Layc doesn't look like it should be pronounced like that. It doesn't look like a real word or name.

Kele (I can't do the accent thing) Looks more like a Hawaiian name to me and like it should be pronounced ke-lay.

I knew someone named Shelley who started spelling it Chelleigh.

Those are terrible D: If you hadn't said otherwise I would have guessed Layc to be a kre8ive spelling of Loïc, Laci wouldn't enter my mind.

That's pretty bad, considering they're adults. My sister and my sister-in-law both experimented with different spellings of their names, but they were in grade school, and the spellings were established alternate spellings (Chelsie instead of Chelsea, for example), not something they made up...

I can see Layc being pronounced Laci (although I want to pronounce it like Lake.) Kele (with the accent) would NOT be pronounced like Kelly. Ever.

I have a creatively spelled nickname (Jewelz as compared to Giuls or Jules) but I think you can be a lot more lenient with nicknames.

Okay, we all do really stupid shit in high school, but it's EIGHT YEARS LATER. That's pathetic.

Lol, took me a second... I thought Laci had changed her name to Lake. XP
What's with the accent?! With the accent it would not be pronounced Kelly. I friggin' HATE that trend! D:<

When I was in 7th grade, one of my best friends changed her name from Kelly to Keli. She used Keli on everything, right up through high school, but switched back to Kelly just before college since, you know- it's her actual name.

Even now, I still will write her name as Keli out of habit.

My [former] friend Erin goes exclusively by Erynn, and has since 9th grade (we're 21).
