We're having one hell of a time coming up with a suitable name for this baby boy due in September.

My SO's short list includes:
Garrick
Henrick
Auto

The first two are just...meh. And Auto is down right terrible.

My short list:
Simon
Elliott
Connor
Ronan

He's nixed all of these.

All we can agree on is, his middle name will be James.

Any suggestions?

When he first said the name I was like Garrett? Eric? And he was like NO, GARRICK. Like Eric with a G? Yes. So then I suggested Garrett or Eric, and he turned them both down.

Yes, Auto. Not Otto. The man works with cars. Ugh.

Otto isn't bad, Auto... is terrible. Try explaining how if he wants to use something that means a lot to him (like working on cars), you can do it a subtle way so when your child grows up, it isn't an issue, but it will be a cool story as to how they got named.

Henrick is lovely!

He's actually stuck on Garrick. Which isn't suuuuuuuuuuper horrible, I just don't like it. I think he'll get a lot of "Garrett? Eric? Derek?" comments. Boyfriend doesn't agree. He thinks it's a "cool name."

I totally agree with the comment thing; I keep wanting to say Garrett first. =/
I don't really like Henrick, but I think it's better than Garrick. Henrick James sounds nice and he can always go by Henry.

Maybe it would help dissuade him from Auto if you pointed out that people's association wouldn't just be cars, but also all the vocabulary words that begin with "auto-" -- like autobiography.
