A friend of mine from high school was named Cathleen. Yes, with a C. I usually hate creative spellings but I didn't mind this one so much. Still, Kathleen is the classic spelling, and it is a wonderful name.

My friend was Cathleen Mary, just like so many Irish girls ;)

I'm not crazy about Kathleen. I like Katherine and consider it very pretty and classic, but for some reason Kathleen kinda makes me wrinkle my nose. I guess it just doesn't sound as nice, and I think it's boring.

I have the same issue, only the other way around. My favourite girls name is Kate, but if I have to choose a longer version for it, it'd probably be Kathleen rather than Katherine, although I'm not sure why. Katherine is lovely and classic, but something about it bothers me--I'm not sure why. Hm.

I prefer it with a C, but that's probably because I'm used to it (as I mentioned above, it's my sister's name). My sister's middle name is Carole (after my grandmother), but I think D names and M names.

I love the name Kathleen. My name is Kathryn and so its sort of a similar name that I can use for my daughter. Katleen with a C is the original spelling, its an irish name.

I've never been a fan of any of the "leen" names lol Kathleen, Colleen, Charlene... I don't know why, I just don't like the way they sound... I do like Katherine though (for a middle name)

I like Kathleen although, I personally prefer it as mn (on my list anyway). the only reason I don't like it as a fn is it gets the nn Kathy which I know way too many of.

Oh, I don't like Kathy. The whole point is actually to come up with a longer name for Kate, which is my favourite girls name, that's not Katelyn (which I hate) or Katherine (which I like, but I want to consider more options)

I like it a little more than I used to because of the Josh Ritter song, but it is a little middle-aged woman to me, too. It doesn't do anything for me.

I really like the way Caitlin looks, and I enjoy the pronunciation coyt-leen, but it'd be a lot to expect of people to pronounce it that way with so many Katelyns running around.

I have an extremely, extremely strong aversion of the name Katelyn, and any name that could be mistaken for it (I'm aware of the correct pronunciation of Caitlin, but like you said, I'd assume most people would mistake it for Katelyn).

I like it a lot. I have a cousin named Kathleen, who just goes by Kathleen. She gets mad if you call her Kathy or Kate, because that's her her. She's just Kathleen. To me, she is what that name is. Super-Irish, with a crapload of freckles, and really booksmartish. I also have a good friend named Kathleen, but she just goes by Katie.

I like the name. A lot. Probably wouldn't use it, but it's something I'd consider.
