I was thinking about this while watching a Jerrod Niemann video. I first heard the name watching The Big Valley (Jarrod Barkley). Then I started watching Gilmore girls (Jared Padalecki).

My question is, which do you prefer:

Jerrod/Jarrod/Jared or another spelling?

I prefer Jared. It's the slling I'm most familiar with.

Jerrod and Jarrod look to me like they should be pronounced Je-ROD.

"Jared" definitely seems the most natural to me (but that could be because I have a cousin by the name who spells it that way).

I pronounce Jerrod as Jer-red while the other two I pronounce Jare-red (tough to spell phonetically) so they are two different names to me.

Of Jared and Jarrod, I like Jared much better.

lolol my ex is jerrod. my lawyer would constantly over annunciate it, like "jer-rod" and it made jerrod so mad.

I don't like any but I think I like Jarrod the best. I have a friend named Jarrod, so that probably is changing my opinion.

But Jarrod is pronounced differently than Jared.

It seems like a lot of people pronounce them differently. I don't know if it's my hearing, or just the context in which I heard them in, because I never notice a difference.

Jared is like JAIR-ruhd and Jarrod is JUH-rod.
