Date: 2010-07-02 12:18 pm (UTC)Anna - not really a fan, but I LOVE Anne. My #2 girl's name.
Audrey - nice, very dark and alluring
Catherine "Cate" or "Cat" - love it, prefer Cate b/w those nns
Charlotte "Charlie"? - very fresh, sweet name, but not convinced on Charlie as a nn. It would work if your Charlotte was an upbeat, athletic girl, I think. I just started liking Lottie as a nn, even though I didn't used to.
Cecily - nah, it's too incomplete and it annoys me for no other real reason. I'd rather see Cecilia. Plus the character in The Importance of Being Earnest is kind of obnoxious. :P
Eleanor - love it, wanted to use it but wouldn't anymore (but not for lack of liking it). I love Nora as a nn, but Nell is very sentimental, too.
Elizabeth "Lizzie" or "Ellie" or "Beth"? - Love it, my #4/5 name. Can't get much more classic, and it's so fresh and open and white. I'd rather see Lizzie or Beth, Ellie is too cutesy-trendy. But all three are nice. My favorite is Nell, and I also like Libby and Bess.
Eve "Evie" - Evie is totally adorable, but I don't really like Eve. It's obnoxious to me, and I actually think it's because Eve = Eden = an annoying girl I went to high school with! Silly.
Felicity - nice, I used to think it was frilly and prissy and disliked it, but for awhile now I've found it to be stronger, and it's a pleasant light yellow, but not washed out.
Imogen - nice, though a bit posh
Ivy - really like, I get a wonderful image from it that would take an entire paragraph to describe. Which I can, if you'd like. :)
Jane "Janie" - very sophisticated and literary, and cute nn
Juliet - like, very musical and burgundy, and like a smooth red wine being poured into a glass. Good associations, too.
Kasia - I've never seen this before. *looks it up* Ah, it's okay. Not a huge fan of the sound, and would rather see it as a nn, maybe.
Lauren - nice, very girl-next-door-y
Lavender - ehhh, it's sickeningly sweet, I'm afraid. And I'm not a huge fan of the smell. :P
Leah - dislike, don't like the sound and I've never met a Leah who wasn't one of the most annoying people ever.
Linden - ?? This is a boy's name. I was about to say, yay, very handsome and gentle and businessy, then remembered I was in the girl's list. :(
Louisa - very pretty and bright, with a sense of humor
Lydia - nice, it's quiet and dark
Madeline - like, very elegant
Margaret "Meg" - my absolute favorite #1 name of all-time! We plan to name our first daughter this. I could gush about it forever, so I won't. Meg is a very nice nn, and I'd use it except that we decided we couldn't not think of the Family Guy character. So my tops are Mae and Mamie, though I do like Margo and Greta. And DH likes Maggie.
May - love! So fresh and springy and caring and gorgeous.
Mia - okay, it has a nice exotic thing going on
Susannah - like, it's sweet and cute and light blue and prairie-girl-y. Like the folksong, too! How cool would it be to have your name in a folksong?
Tamsin - alright. I want to like this more, but I just can't. I think the sound is too masculine.
