Date: 2010-06-22 08:50 pm (UTC)I love the name Freya :)
I don't know what my Freya's middle name was, but if I had a little girl named Freya I would probably pair it was Jean. Freya Jean.

Date: 2010-06-22 09:09 pm (UTC)I'm thinking Freya with the middle name Simone maybe...
Freya Jean is nice too. I think it does well with "plain" middle names.

Date: 2010-06-22 09:37 pm (UTC)I don't really picture any type of person in particular, except for maybe a "model" type since the only Freya I know of Freja Beha Erichsen. She's rather androgynous but that doesn't make the name feel any less feminine. The name does kind of sound badass though.
This is Freja: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_R5oVPTIqh24/Sy-Ok5ipvII/AAAAAAAABpg/Bu1elpxAoj8/s640/Freja+Beha+Erichsen+5.jpg

Date: 2010-06-23 02:04 am (UTC)I like the association with fertility, beauty etc.
I like the way it looks, not sooo sure on the 'fray' sound being at the start.
Never met a real life version. My sister wrote a short story main character called Freya and I think of her. Strong, independant, beautiful, calm.
Would consider it for a daughter but think it's too close to our first daughters name which is Priya.

Date: 2010-06-23 04:11 am (UTC)I picture white, blue, purple, and grey... I think of scandinavia and also norse mythology.
I imagine it someone natural, fresh, quietly confident, an individual but with a huge heart for others
I do know a Freya- she's in her 20s in Australia and is an awesome person

Date: 2010-06-23 04:24 am (UTC)It makes me think of a sci-fi or fantasy character rather than a real human being though.
I picture like some troll-slaying elf or something.
The only Freya I "know" is my cousin Matthew's dog, lol.

I picture a happy, good-natured girl who loves nature and is very independant and intelligent. Big eyes.
Nope, but I'd totally use it.

Who do you picture someone named Freya to be? - Someone happy and genuinely nice.
Do you know anyone named Freya? - I do actually! My little cousin in Canada is named Freyja Lucien, she's adorable.

Date: 2010-06-23 03:10 pm (UTC)As for the name itself, I quite like it. It has a nice sound, spelling and (mythological) connotations.

Date: 2010-06-23 08:00 pm (UTC)Alternately, a cross-eyed idiot of a cat in a book I read. The cat was a sweetheart, in her cross-eyed idiot kind of way, but I remember really hating the woman who named her Freya... come to think of it, she matches the description above, so I may have just solved my own mystery.

Date: 2010-06-24 01:38 am (UTC)*Eeeek. Actually I just think of the blonde, grimy toddler I saw throwing a loud temper tantrum on the floor of the coffee shop the other day. I only know she was a Freya because her poor, frazzled mom finally got up and muttered to her "Freya Phoebe Anne, if you don't get off the floor right now you won't get any gummi bears all week!" Haha.
*See above. But, on the plus side I think Freya is really pretty on an adult. I picture a quiet and lovely adult, in the same class as Oona or Isla.
*I know four Freyas personally, and all are under three years old. And I've witnessed at least five or six more around town and in our local paper. I'm in western New England if that helps.
