Jun. 13th, 2010 02:00 pmI just found out I'm having a girl and I'm fairly certain she will be Olivia Jane. My boyfriend and I are still playing around with other names, but that's the only one that we both love/is really sticking. Every time I tell people, their immediate reaction is "OMG OJ?!?!" as in...OJ Simpson.
I don't really see the big deal. I didn't even make any connection until someone else pointed it out to me. In all likelihood, most people won't know her middle name unless she tells them or they hear me use it when I'm trying to be stern with her. My boyfriend has gotten a little more weary of the name now because of this.
What do you think? Would you change the name?

pretty much we just call him "Ben" "Benny" the Joseph thing hasn't come up since birth...no one ever asks middle names

I doubt anyone would think of teasing her with that, especially years down the road as she gets older.

Date: 2010-06-14 01:15 am (UTC)But lol, the first thing I thought upon hearing Olivia Jane was "OMG pretty!" and when I hear OJ, I think of orange juice, not O.J. Simpson. Besides, the Simpson case was big during the 1990s; the only people who will associate OJ with that will be in their mid-30s and 40s by the time your daughter's old enough to care.
It's beautiful. I'd keep it.

Date: 2010-06-14 04:17 am (UTC)Honestly, I would say just ignore what people have said and go with it. People will read into anything these days, it seems.
