Cute, and I'm glad McKenzie's the middle name, because I hate it on adults. But it sounds good together!

It's almost too cutesy. I like Mya, but spelled Maya. I hate McKenzie.

Mya is cute, but I would prefer Maya. I loath McKenzie.

I hate both names. I never liked three letter names, and I really hate Mc-names.

they are variants of each other, but they are pronounced differently.

Eh...I like the first name spelled Maya. Without the other A, it just looks incomplete. But I do love the sound of the name! I despise McKenzie, but at least it's hidden in the middle.

uh no, Mya and Mia are pronounced the same... people just seem to be illiterate by choice now a days. If anything then it'd be MM-yuh and that is still not Maya... so yeah.

I like Mia, not Maya and well I really dislike McKenzie in all it's incarnations but at least it's on the middle name status here.

you rock... it really does upset me how people WANT to be illiterate now a days... why spell it right when you can add a letter that will change the name and then pretend it's exactly the same name!?

There's an R&B singer named Mya who pronounces her name just like Maya, so I'd imagine that's where a lot of people get that pronunciation form.

yeah that's worrisome to me... when we start getting our education from R&B artists =S

Well, to be fair, lots of names come into use after they're exposed to the public eye.

If it makes any difference, behindthename.com (which is among the most reputable baby name sites) does give the pronunciation of Mya to be the same as that of Maya (MIE-ə), although it gives its definition to be a modern English variant of Mia.

What does all of this means? To me, it means that Mya is a modern form of Maya or Mia, and it would be better for someone to stick with a reputable spelling. However, it also means (to me) that neither pronunciation is wrong.

It's so weird, McKenzie/Mackenzie is everything I should hate: weird spelling, super trendy, meaning 'son of' =\...but I really like the sound of it. So yeah...I think Mya McKenzie is cute too!

I don't really like either name, but it's not a completely horrible name either. As far as Mya versus Maya goes, I really have no preference; they're both pronounced the same as far as I'm concerned.

Ick ick ick. Mya? What is that even supposed to be? I see it around every once in a while and I pronounce it with one syllable-- MYA! Like a karate chop. It looks ridiculous. And McKenzie better be a family surname, because it's definitely not a girl's name. /end rant

Mya is okay, though I prefer the spelling(s) Maya/Maia. McKenzie is one of my least favorite names of all times. And I don't like the alliteration.

But overall, it could be worse.
