maiden names as middle names

What is the general consensus on using the mom's maiden name as a middle name? What if it's more typical of a first name, like Bennett or Clifford?

Definitely depends on the name. My husband has his mother's maiden name as his middle name (Clark) and my SIL decided to use their maternal grandmother's maiden name (Paige) as her daughter's middle name. In both instances, I think it works quite well. My maiden name is German, not very pretty, and is often mispronounced. I would never stick my child with it. :P
