What is the general consensus on using the mom's maiden name as a middle name? What if it's more typical of a first name, like Bennett or Clifford?

I won't do it with mine simply because it rhymes with my future surname, and I'm picky about sound and flow when it comes to names. It would just sound bad and be kind of tongue-twistery. Plus it doesn't really make for much of a name to begin with. If I had a cooler last name I'd think about it. I think the practice can be neat sometimes, especially if the last name actually makes for a good/interesting name. Some last names are just a little too unwieldy, I think.

I do have a friend whose second middle name is her mom's maiden name. She loves it and tends to use it more than her first middle name.
