Babies born in the family this year and my relation to them:

Caleb Machai, born February 4 (second cousin)
Dane Matthew, born April 23 (cousin)
Destiny Renee, born May 27 (neice)
Evalee Lynn, born June 3 (neice)

I am indifferent towards Caleb and Dane. I don't like Destiny at all. I wasn't a fan of Evalee (ev-uh-lee) when my sister first mentioned it, but it's grown on me over the past month. Her middle name is Lynn after our mom who passed away.

Adore Evalee. It was my great aunt's name although documents spell it Evelee and Evil Lee. I like the Evalee spelling.

But seriously, Evalee Lyn? Why not just use Evelyn?

You mean Evalyn? It wasn't my choice. My sister wanted something different and like I said, I didn't even like it at first.

Evelyn, to me, can be pronounce Ev-uh-lyn or Ev-eh-lyn, so either way, it would be ok. If they want that "Ev-uh" sound it would work as well.

I wasn't attacking you, just saying, it doesn't make much sense to me to use a made up name when the name is basically Evelyn all together.

My husband is named Caleb so I'm a fan of that one. I don't think I'd use Dane or Destiny, though. Evalee Lynn sounds like Evelyn with an extra syllable. I LOVE the name Evelyn, but my cousin already used it! Evalee is alright since most people don't go by their first and middle names together.

I like Dane and Evalee.

I actually really like Evalee. My best friend liked Everley for a girl, too, but now that I say Evalee, I kind of like that better!

I have a student named Dane (and a former student who just married a man named Dane) and that name has really grown on me.

On the other hand, I saw a Facebook post yesterday from someone named Destanie, and that made me want to cry.
