I have been leaning towards Oliver for a boy for a long time, but now everyone says the child would be teased horribly. What do you think? What about the name Noah for a boy?
i don't think he'd necessarily be teased, but i cannot picture the name oliver on an adult. i think it's a really cute name for a little boy but i think he'd have to have a certain personality to pull it off in adulthood so that it would be fitting and if he doesn't, it would just seem like his name is wrong.
i do love the name though. it's my dog's name.
and i love noah. i think it's gone down in popularity recently too so that's always good. solid, strong name. he will get ark jokes all his life though.
that's true. really any name that any cultural figure has had will be teased that way, at least they're both innocent and not anything actually mean. it's nothing that would hurt his feelings, anyway.
Yeah, I guess it's a really common name, so that's why I would prefer Oliver. My husband is convinced he will be teased with Oliver Twist, so he prefers Noah
On babycenter Oliver is considered uncommon being in the 7,000 rankings whereas Noah is ranked number 10. Which is why I really prefer Oliver. My husband just worries he will be teased about Oliver Twist.
I could be meaner. My sister is pregnant with twins and wants to name them D-names and their last name starts with D. They will be the "Double D Twins"... Or my sister-in-law wanting to name her son Harrison Combs (Harry Combs) and she didn't she why that would be mean.
That's exactly what I think! I mean most of the people commenting on this post didn't come to that thought, why would little kids who are less likely to know the book think of it?
i'm a little mean. i'm a long way off from having children (i hope anyway) but the main reason my favorite boy's name is elliott is because i want to call him smelliot so badly.
I love both Oliver and Noah. It really doesn't matter what you name your child because kids will find something about it to tease them horribly. That's what kids do.

Date: 2010-05-23 04:40 am (UTC)I used to love Noah, until I started working around little kids (under 5). It's a pretty popular name.
