As a Biology major, the name Ny'Darrian makes me laugh.

From www.thefreedictionary.com:

"Cnidarian (n.) Any of various invertebrate animals of the phylum Cnidaria, characterized by a radially symmetrical body with a saclike internal cavity, and including the jellyfishes, hydras, sea anemones, and corals."

Yes, the C is silent, so Cnidarian is pronounced exactly as that child's name is spelled.
