What do you think about the name Bodhi?

I think it's gorgeous. Makes me think of the tree of life. I like the way it sounds. Only concern is that it will continuously get mispronounced, and spelling it any other way is out of the question.

It's one of the very first names I proposed to my wife when we started our list, and she didn't like it. Then, on Discovery Health last night, she saw it used on a little boy, and said she really likes it; couldn't imagine it on a kid til then, but now she might want to seriously consider it.

Thoughts, opinions?

I wouldn't have thought of it at all before, but I actually rather like it, and agree with only that spelling.

I like the meaning - "the awakening; enlightened" and that the bodhi tree is a symbol of enlightment, as well as just a very beautiful and interesting tree - It takes 100 to 3,000 years for a bodhi tree to fully grow.

We like it, so it's on our top 10 boy names list. We're feeling out potential combinations - Right now we favor Bodhi Julien Ward

also, I knew a really redneck kid in high school named Bodie, so to me, it's not the same name if spelled any other way.

I actually was going to point out that the Bodie spelling makes me think of delinquents and "Mallrats," which is a great movie, but the characters are not people I want my children to turn into.

I've had Bodhi and Asher as a sibset on my list for ages... I never thought of pairing them before, but they sound awesome together!

The only person I've ever really seen with the name is Bodhi Elfman (who's middle name is Pine, interesting).

it took me forever to figure out how it was pronounced. I kept on saying it like body, as in the human body. I didn't like it at first, but I'm warming up to it.
