Ok, so here are my questions for the day

1.  Can anyone think of a full name that could use "Bonnie" as a nick name

2.  What do you think of the name Alethea (It is prn. Uh-lee-thee-uh.)? as far as I've ever come across, it is of Greek origin & means "truth" or "truthful".    I actually have met a girl with this name & it really did work.  I think I'm just curious about the perceptions people out there have when they hear it.

3.  Referring to an earlier post here, does anyone find Russell Crowe's kids an odd sibset?  His first son's name is Charles ( the new one is Tennyson.)

4. Ok, this is not a question. Just because you all know that seeing a horrible or tryndee name on here, and seeing it spelled Kre8tively is like a bad frickin train wreck & you can't help but look....

I know a girl who named her daughter Mykenzee.

Hope you all are not scarred by that & are having a good day. ;p

i believe Bonnie comes from Bonita.

[identity profile] sayga.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, and Mykenzee is bad, but mostly because MY doesn't say Muh. I would say My Kenzey, as opposed to YOUR Kenzey...

I like the name Tennyson.

I knew an awful girl named Alethea. The name makes methink of urethra.

1) Bonita
2) like it..can see it working on some people
3) no i actually like charles and tennyson as a sibset. charles is trendy enough these days to work with tennyson
4)that's awful!!! lol

[identity profile] secret-x-stars.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
..ebony?

maybe you could even use Robin or Sabine or something and just be like, 'well damnit, there's a B in there! get over it!' :)

[identity profile] jenniferdunn.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
The only name I could think of for Bonnie to be a nickname for is 'Bonita', it means beautiful in Spanish. Bonnie itself means sweet & good in Scottish.

I love female greek names.. I like Alethea, but it seems like the pronunciation would through people off. It looks Al-eh-thee-uh. It's pretty though.

I do think it is a bit of an odd sibset. I commented in that post saying that I think Spencer Tennyson [as opposed to Tennyson Spencer] would have been better.

I hate Mackenzie & all of it's retarded spellings =/

[identity profile] darabelle.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Spencer is his wife's last name, as opposed to the baby's middle name.

[identity profile] darabelle.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe it is a hyphenated last name without the hyphen, because they both have it (Charles Spencer and Tennyson Spencer).

[identity profile] darabelle.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Charles and Tennyson are great together.

[identity profile] mrsduryee.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
me too. I love them both. Charles balances the uniqueness of Tennyson out by being super classy. Tennyson becomes classy by association, instead of trendy.

1. like everyone else, all I thought of was bonita
2. I like it alot... I think it looks really pretty.
3. I dont know, I think its fine.

I dont mind weird spellings and some trendy names are fine... as long as it looks/sounds fine I usually like it (well sometimes the meaning will throw me off) but yeah, I really dont like the spelling Mykenzee.

[identity profile] sarahrose.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Bonita
2. Eh. It's too Greek to me.
3. I like Tennyson. I dislike Russell Crowe, lol.
4. I love creative spellings, and I enjoy Mykenzee.

[identity profile] ewaeva.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
2. Aletheia does mean truth in Greek. It's lovely. As far as similar sounds go, I also love Anthea, a name I haven't heard in ages.

3. I don't understand the whole "sibset" idea. They're separate individual human beings, not parts of a set. Their names don't have to match or "work" together. And it's not as if one's named Charles and the other Jhaedyn or something, as if different parents had named them.

4. Mackenzie is digusting enough the way it is without any ridiculous variations. Ew.

[identity profile] tigress-oils.livejournal.com 2006-07-08 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
anthea, like portrait of a young girl named anthea? i know about that because of an episode of gilmore girls, haha. the name is lovely.

[identity profile] ewaeva.livejournal.com 2006-07-08 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I first read it in Enid Blyton's book "5 Children and It" when I was a kid - I think Anthea was the oldest sister - and I've liked it ever since :)

[identity profile] trissyd.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Someone already said "Ebony", I love it!!

2. I'd like it for a pet, not for a person (I have a naming trend... all 4 of my pets are named after gods/goddess)

3. I don't think kids need to have names that sound REALLY sib-set, and I think that these 2 are just fine together. Although the new baby has a much more 'unique' name, it's still very classy sounding, like his first. I think they sound fine together... (the only sib-set that has ever bothered me is 3 sisters: Anna, Sunday & Centennial ... too much)

4. Mackenzie... *sigh*... I like the nn "Mac", so I don't MIND it for a boy... BUT this spelling is atrotious... it's soooo trendee it's sick. Can you really see that working on a successful older woman? No.

[identity profile] jenniferdunn.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, in response to your 4th point, I agree with your last statement. In fact, on that show 'Commander In Chief' with Gina Davis, she played the President and her name was Mackenzie Allen. I seriously was like 'yeah right'.. President Mackenzie Allen? Notsomuch.

[identity profile] mrsduryee.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
HAHAHA that's right!

[identity profile] in-the-starlite.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a trendy little church called Alethea where I live, so that's all it makes me think of. =\

I'm not fond of Mackenzie to begin with. It doesn't even seem like a real name.

[identity profile] heure-actuelle.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a really awesome/sweet/cool/unique friend named Alethea. She's the bees knees so naturally I do love the name!

I have to admit though, if I didn't know anyone with the name I probably wouldn't like it as much.

[identity profile] cathkitten.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I know Bonnie is a Scottish name, and so you could use it for many Scottish names, like Heather, or Margaret. Elizabeth could work because it has so many nns already.

The only name that has "Bon" in it I can think of is Bonita.

[identity profile] krosp.livejournal.com 2006-07-08 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Not much point suggesting Bonita....

I think Alethea is lovely, pretty sound and strong meaning

[identity profile] missamerican.livejournal.com 2006-07-08 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
1. Veronica
2. It sounds like all of the other Greek mythology characters to me. Greek names just don't seem to appeal to me.
3. I like them together.

[identity profile] x-lostinyou.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Bonnie is sometimes related to Barbara.

[identity profile] iceprincess1010.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate the name Alethea. My name is Alicia and when I hear Alethea it reminds me of when I was in 2nd grade and this girl had a terrible lisp and that's how she would say my name. Really annoying. Amazing how decades later it still make me grit my teeth.

[identity profile] satunian.livejournal.com 2006-07-11 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Alethea to me sounds like Alicia with a terrible lisp
