hmm just saw a guy on tv with the name Carsten. i'd say he's a senior in highschool.. i don't like it reminds me of kirsten which should be on a girl.

I have a friend whose brother is named Karsten. It's a Scandinavian name, and that's their ethnicity so for them it makes sense. :)

Yes. Karsten is not at all uncommon here (The Netherlands).
I'm not wild about it, but I don't hate it either.

I really really don't like this name, but it could be the negative association to the first Karsten I knew. I've known several Karsten. It's definitely a male name, and has a very different feel to me than Kirsten, which I kinda like.

I don't like it, since I find the "car" sound kind of harsh. =/
I've never noticed its similarity to Kirsten (which I hate) before...

A very common name in Europe. Like someone said - it's Scandinavian. My mother has a cousin named Karsten.
