Walking in the supermarket today a fairly young girl , 10 years old maximum, was blocking the shopping carts.  i hear:

"Twilight, come here please!"

And then the girl went running.  We met again later somewhere else in the supermarket and i was still trying to convince myself that the mother had really said Twyla but then she said it quite loudly in my ear when the girl started ignoring her.  What do you think?

There's a girl on my flist whose mother wanted to name her Twilight, and it's her middle name. Without the hideous abusive-relationship-and-awful-book connotation I think it's quite nice, but that said, now it's ruined.

Well, Dawn is a name. I don't like it, but it's not the worst thing ever. It's ruined by the book Twilight though.

If it is Twilight, that comes under the heading of cruelty to helpless kids...

I think it's horrible, even without the book connotations.

If she's around 10, though, then she was born before the book was even around...

She could be a HUGE Twilight fan and now people call her that as some kind of nickname?

I don't like it, not even if the whole Twilight craze was non-existent. I just don't like the sound of it.

It's more "out there" than I would use myself, but I like it. Even though I'm a fan of the books, I have to admit the current "craze" would definitely make me think twice about using it, but someone else said, if the girl's 10 she was named way before the books came out.
