Date: 2010-04-25 02:49 pm (UTC)Demetri, I realize, is usually a male name but if you can't tell, I don't let those strict guidelines decide much for me. I have a hard time with seeing genderized boundaries in all aspects of life, names included :) This name fell in the girl category for me because my mom's name is Damita, and Demetri seems like a more normal variation as a nod to my mom, if I were to use it.

I much prefer your boy names over your girl names. Is Carina an odd spelling of a different name? I really like the sound of it but it just looks... different to me.

Date: 2010-04-24 05:41 pm (UTC)And I can't really remember where we found the name Carina [Cuh-REE-nah] but I think the spelling Corina was also suggested, and Corrina [sp?] is similar which is prn'd differently - Cor-IN-uh.

Date: 2010-04-24 06:25 pm (UTC)Incidentally, this seems to be progress with your wife based on the last post (or somewhat recent one?) you had on here, if I recall correctly.

Date: 2010-04-24 11:45 pm (UTC)I really dislike Santana, Carina, Calvin, Patrick, Cash, Judah, Carson (prefer it on boys), and Bailey (I had a stuffed cow named Bailey; it also makes me think of dogs).
*
I love Atticus and Sebastian. I like Malachi.
Augusten, Phoenix, Ezra, Skyler, Rowan, River, and India are okay. I'm indifferent to Thatcher.
I really dislike Coy, Peyton, Makenna, Zariah, Ryder, Declan, and Canada.
I guess I like Shayla since that's my name, haha; I've never hated it, at least. The Celtic meaning "fairy palace" is great, since I LOVE fantasy stuff (I collect faeries) and I've always loved that I've never had to share it with anyone in class. ;)

Date: 2010-04-28 02:44 pm (UTC)I love Nathaniel, love Calvin (and the nn Cal), but I'm no fan of Julian. Asher is nice, but becoming more and more popular (don't know if that affects your choice at all).
I like Phoenix, but it feels too common... and I am not WOW SUPER FAN of AZ (never been there).
I love Ezra, but for a girl -- we named our daughter Ezra.
I think Coy is sort of a disaster for a girl, to be honest -- it sounds nice, but because of the meaning it's hart to carry.
