Actually, i really like it! Different than the normal Kate/Katie/Kat nn. Might be harder for people to "get" at first, but if that's how you introduce her it would be fine.
It's cute! It's not too much of a stretch, either. I think when most people say Katherine, the last syllable sounds more like "-ren" than "-rin," so it works!
I agree with others, not too much of a stretch if that's what you started calling her from the beginning. I like it. I think I like Rin better than Ren (just because of Ren & Stimpy).
