My friend just gave birth to a little girl. They have named her Augusta Jane, after her late Grandpa, Augustin. They are trying to work out a nn. Any suggestions?
I personally think Augusta is a really cute name and probaby wouldn't even bother with a nn.

Augusta is way too old fashioned for my taste, but good for her! It's not a horrible name either, and I like the fact that she named her after someone she loved. I have no clue what nickname could work, though.

I love it! And I wouldn't go with a nickname either. Not every name needs to have a nickname. But even so, sometimes nicknames just happen that don't have anything to do with the actual name. For example, I frequently call my daughter Ladybug, which has nothing to do with Eleanor or Nora.

My friend calls her daughter Ladybug too... and also "Laneybug" because her name is Delaney.

I love nicknames that have little or nothing to do with actual names haha.

Augusta is hard to shorten, especially to a feminine nn. Aggie and Gussie come to mind, but neither are very pretty haha. But i also wanted to say that it's great that they named her after a loved family member. It's harder to cross gender with names but they did a good job!

It's i am damanda. My friend that initially hooked me onto LJ always called me damanda, but that was already taken as a username.

Wow, I've never liked that name before, but Augusta Jane strikes me as very nice.

The most common nickname I see for my older customers here is Gussie.

That's a great combo.
I can only think of Auggie, Gus (even though it's typically male), or AJ. Hm...Gusta? I'm not really crazy about any of those options, but I can see where Augusta could be a little stuffy for constant, everyday use.

I can only think of Auggie, but I don't think it's necessary.

Auggie... A.J. if they're into the initial thing...or if you do nn's the way my mother does, Auggie Froggie or Augusta Bagusta.

I like AJ :) I think it's cute, sweet, and a nice alternative to the frilliness of Augusta in case she's a tomboy :)

I love love LOVE this name. It's completely my style and totally a name I'd use. Adore it. I cannot even properly explain how much I love this name.

Augie
Aggie
Aja (ah-ya or ah-ja)
AJ

Or, she could alway use Poppy as a nickname! (All kids, kittens, etc are "Poppy" to me. ha)

I personally think AJ is the only nice nn out of the ones I can think of. But I personally would be inclined to give it a little while and they probably will have something that sticks that came naturally. A month now seems a long time, but as an adult "I had this nn since I was a month old" does not.
