friend of a friends kids... ages are probably 3 and 2, if i had to guess...

dorothy and amelia

the name dorothy took me by surprise. no idea if she has a nickname or anything. i know the old lady names are back with a vengeance but thats one i hadnt heard pop up yet. i wouldnt use it, but i dont hate it, surprisingly. what do you think?

Hmm...I kind of like this sibset, but there's something off about it. Amelia is old fashioned but fresh. Dorothy just sounds old fashioned. But I still like it.

I'm so conflicted!

I LOVE the name Dorothy. I had a great-Aunt named Dorothy and everyone called her Dottie. I'd love to name a daughter Dorothy for that nickname alone.

I have an aunt named Dorothy I've always called Aunt Dottie :) love it!

Dorothy also makes me think of Bea Arthur on Golden Girls, so double win! Loved her :)

I don't know...I'm from Kansas, so Dorothy has a different connotation for me as well. I love Amelia, and I think the sibset is cute, but I'm not sure about Dorothy.

I dig, even with the Oz connection. Actually, Dorothy was quite the independent, skeptical young lady and a lovely namesake.

this. plus, dot is a cute little kid nickname.

Indeed!

And a really good excuse to get her into hipster stuff (retro polka dots anyone?) so she can skip princess crap. Hipster isn't that much better, but it's at least not vomitously pink.

A couple of years ago, I would have thought Dorothy was awful, but I'm totally on board the old lady name bandwagon now, and I actually love that sibset.

Dorothy is my gram's name and she is my favorite person in the world, so it gets an automatic pass for me. Her legal name is Dorothy, but her parents, who were from Italy, called her Dorotea. I've considered naming a hypothetical child Dorothea, which sounds a little funkier and therefore more modern (in an old-fashioned way).

I have a great-aunt named Dorothy, so I've always liked the name. I don't think I would use it, though. I also went to high school with a Dorothy who went by the nickname Dory.

Not a fan of Amelia.

Twas my grandmother's name....she hated it. Went by her middle name, Helen.

Amelia is okay, but I've never really liked Dorothy.
I used to go to school with a "Dottie" (Dorothy).

I love both of these names. I'm glad a lot of the older names are back in fashion. Dorothy is a very strong, positive name. Amelia is more feminine, but also strong, as in Amelia Earhart. Also, I had a great-aunt named Amelia whom I adored.

I honestly ♥ the both; they're both my style. I especially love the nicknames Dot and Mia.

*them both. I should log in.

I love both. I really like Dorothy and Amelia was my grand-mother's name.

If I could name myself, I'd probably choose Dorothy :)

I love Dorothy, but since I'm a HUGE Wizard of Oz fan I really can't use it.

Love Dorothy. LOVE IT. So beautiful.
