I'm 26 weeks and at 18 weeks we found out we are expecting a girl! I have been going crazy trying to find the best name for her. Originally I loved Faith. Then it turned into Rosalie, then Arielle. Then I considered Hannah too.

About two weeks ago or so I was in bed and I thought of Lily. I told my fiancee about it and he didn't like it, but he really liked Lillian. I don't like Lillian at all. So then I thought of Lilliana. Right now, that is her name. I am in love with it, but when I first put it together I was going nuts trying to decide how we would spell it because there are soo many ways. I've settled on Lilliana, but I also like the spelling Liliana.

Some people online told me this is a common name. Is that true? I have never met or known anyone to name their baby Lilliana and it's important to me to know I am not naming her a common name. My name is Lauren and growing up I was 1 of 3 Laurens in my class for a couple of years. It drove me crazy always having to be known as Lauren K. Ugh.

Anyway I have my heart set on Lilliana now but I'm curious to know your thoughts on the name anyway :o) Oh yeah her first and middle name would be Lilliana Grace.

I work with small children and have for the last three years. I've never met a Lilliana. But Lily is a really common name these days. At my old daycare, we had a Lily, a Lilith (Lily) and an Elizabeth (Lily). However, I think Lilliana is climbing in popularity.

For what it's worth, a couple in my Sunday school class have an 18 month old named Liliana Grace (only 1 "l"). You can check the baby name wizard website (I'm on my phone so I can't look up the address, just google it) to see changes in name popularity, if it's important to you that the name not be super popular or rising in popularity. It's a great name, and as long as you love it, go for it!!

I know one baby Liliana (not sure of the spelling) born in the past 2 years. That's out of about 20 babies I know born. She's often called Lily, which is super common.

I graduated with a Liliana, but she is the only one I know of.

I taught two Liliana's in church school, and I worked at a boarding school where there was a Lilliana.

I wouldn't let that deter me though. It's not like Ashley or Lauren.

Lily is getting to be pretty common. I have a friend who recently had a baby and named her Liliana. Other than that I don't know any babies/kids/etc. with that name. I don't think it's super common but it could be getting there.

I also think Grace is becoming a pretty popular almost "filler" middle name...which is sad because I love it. :(

FWIW I love Faith and Hannah

I think it's pretty and I've never known a Lilliana
although I think I'd spell it Liliana or Lilianna

I don't know any Lilianas in my daughter's preschool but Lily and Lilian/Lillian are extremely popular in our area. I think it's a beautiful name and worth being used despite popularity...these days a popular name is not the same as it was when we were kids. For example, in 2008, around 8000 babies were named Lily and it was ranked #24. In 1986, around 16,000 girls were named Lauren, and it was ranked #14. So Lauren then was pretty much twice as popular as Lily is now...as popular as names ranked 4, 5, and 6 now.

I've never met a Lilliana. It's a really pretty name though. My niece is named Lily and I've always loved the name.

I think Liliana is a beautiful name, and unless you plan on calling her Lily all the time and therefore adding her to the endless amounts of Lily's out there these days, I don't think it's too popular :)

All the Lily, Lillian, Liliana names are skyrocketing right now: http://www.babynamewizard.com/voyager/#prefix=lil&ms=true&sw=f&exact=false

If you use it, please spell it Liliana! That third L just seems so extraneous.

Okay, this is just too weird. My sister-in-law is named Lauren. (So am I, actually.) She plans on naming her first daughter Lillian Grace. She got the names from her grandmothers.

I know nothing about the popularity of Lillian/Lily/Lilliana, etc. Just thought I'd share about the other thing.

I'm kind of with you on this. I really liked Lily at first (almost 10 years ago) and planned on using it and then suddenly it seemed everyone else got the same idea. I don't dislike the name, but I have heard it enough that I am no longer interested in it.

i am with you.

i met a teenaged girl recently named lily and i realized how badly it ages. it was immediately crossed off my list.

i still love the name lillian, but i wouldnt use it now.

I've seen the name around, though not as common as Lily, but it's very possible she might wind up being called Lily by peers, or by her own personal choice. It still is a pretty name, but Lily variation plus Grace will be a little common.

I don't think Liliana is the problem, when it comes to popularity. It's just that Liliana will probably be shortened to Lily, which is a rather common name these days. Anyway, if you like it, use it, Liliana Grace is a lovely combo.

I see Lilianas quite a bit in birth announcements and things. I like the name a lot, but it's too popular for me to use. I also like the nn Lily but three people in my close life-circle have named their dogs that. :P

Lily and all variations are becoming really popular. My cousin named her youngest daughter Lilliana, and she's 8 months old. She joins 4 year old Lanahlee. Too close for my taste for a sibset, but both pretty names.

I've only ever met one Lilliana in my life, and she's about 10 or 11 years old now. I think it's a great name, and would actually consider using it myself if I didn't have a cousin named Lily.

i am absolutely in love with the name lillian.

lilliana is just too fairy princess for me. but thats me, i know.

if the popularity of lily doesnt bother you, go with it. while you may not call her lily, her friends will probably start calling her that at some point down the road. friends just naturally shorten names.
