I work at a library, so I see a lot of names. Today's gem: a gentleman named Donald McDonald.

Were his parents unimaginative? Or simply cruel?

Reminds me of my local news anchor, Neil McNeil.

Or my high school history teacher, Karen McLaren.

I suppose it's possible (even probable) that Ms. McLaren married into the name. I think, under those circumstances, I would have kept my maiden name! Strange as my last name is, at least I wouldn't sound like a Dr. Seuss character.

Regarding the news anchor: at least it's memorable. That's a big plus in his business, even if it's a goofy memorable!

It's a pity, but nope :( It was her given name. We were talking about it one day because a girl named Apple said she hated her name, and Ms.McLaren pulled out her drivers' license and handed it to her and just said "at least your parents weren't as evil as mine. And no, I'm not married and never have been."

That's awful :( I think I would have changed my name.

I just spent like five minutes trying to figure out how that's so terrible, then I realized I must not have been saying McLaren right. I was saying it more McLaah-ren.

I used to know a guy named Donald Dick.

Oh my. That is a name of epic cruelty proportions. Not that they can control the slang meaning of their last name, but I would become something like Dave Dixon the moment I turned 18.

If I were his father, I would have changed my last name when I turned 18! But Donald is in his 60's now and he hasn't changed his name. WTF?

There's a park in my hometown called the Donald McDonald Park, and in the credits for Hot Tub Time Machine there was someone named Donald McDonald too. What is up with that?!

I knew a Will Williams and an Eddie Edwards.

I literally cannot imagine what these people's parents are thinking. Do they just hope no one will notice???

There is a big car dealership owner in my state named either David Davidson or David McDavid, can't remember which right now.

Haha, I have an uncle named Max Maxwell.

Oh, those names crack me up! Unfortunate for the individual, but funny for everyone else. I know of an Albert Alberts, and a Robin Robinson (but that was her married name).

I knew a Donald McDonald once- an old man, he passed away about 10 years ago.

This one's also an older guy (still kicking, obviously). In my experience, you mostly see these kind of atrocities on older people. I guess it was a different time, people didn't think it was as important somehow?

my friend's dad's name is david davidson.

i always tell him that he lives up to his last name cause he is the son of david.
