Madrigal

I'm actually a big fan of words-as-names lately, which is something sort of recent for me, I guess. I've been into this one for a while and thought of it while driving home tonight.

Madrigal.

I wouldn't know where to begin on a middle name, so suggestions are welcome.

And what do you think? If you're not a fan of using words as names, that's fine, but sonically, what do you think? Is it too difficult to say? (I kind of think it is.) Visually, what do you think?

theres a school in my area that has a weekend long madrigal feast every year (that i photograph) it makes me think of that. and its not a pretty sight, in all honesty. unless you like that sort of thing. i dont like it.

I swear I never knew that Madrigal actually meant something. Then again, I'm not musically inclined, so my chances of coming across it were slim. Overall, I like it. It reminds me of Madrid, Spain.

To be honest, at first glance, I read the word Magical.

My husband was in a play in theatre in high school called 'The Madrigal Dinner'.. so that's all I can think of when I hear it. I can't really picture it as a name.

I read a book when I was young about evil twins named Madrigal (evil one) and Mary Lee (non-evil). I've really liked it ever since. It's got a great meaning.

Words as names are fine by me - as long as the word has positive associations and is spelled correctly.

For a middle name, something with one syllable or two syllables stressed on the first syllable would be my preference. I'd avoid names starting with M or L, or featuring a stressed A-as-in-at sound. I think I need to see what's on your list again that would meet these criteria before I can be more specific.

How are you on Avocet, by the way? That was a word name that had a brief moment in the sun before people jumped on the heaven-backwards bandwagon.

I was in choir in high school and we had the best Madrigal in the district. Oh, good memories!

Anyway, I love words as names, too. Madrigal - hm, I don't know. Probably not, just because of such a strong association with high school. All of my friends were music nerds, so we had a great time every year and it's just such a big memory.

To avoid the "Maddie" nickname, I'd just start calling her "Madri" (mad-ree) right away. It's not something I would personally use, but I think a little girl called Madri would be adorable, and would age well.
