Are you kidding me? The majority of people I've heard from like Margot! I personally love it. I'd use it as a nn for Margaret. I think that's my favorite spelling of it, with second being Margaux, and third being Margo. Although now that I type it out, I do really like Margo-- girl's names that end in -o are fun. :) It sounds very pretty with Josephine too. I'd like it even better if the combo were flip-flopped!
I love the nn Jo or Josie and is makes me think of Little Women. Margot is my second favorite name like that (I love Magdalen) and I knew this really cool/pretty Margot. Who doesn't like it? I hope you stick with it anyway, but even if you don't, I think you have really good taste in names, so you'll find another good one =]
we have been calling her joey, like a baby kangaroo. jeff doesn't like margot, but he said the middle name is not important to him. she will have his initials (jme), and he thinks that's cool. his mother is constantly suggesting new names even though i told her we already have a name picked out and i don't need any suggestions. it's just not the filler type of middle name that everyone is used to (marie, mae, rae, ann, nicole, etc.)
Ooh, I love Josephine. And I like the sound of Margot-- the only thing that gets me is the spelling. It looks so much like Maggot. I prefer Margo or even the fancypants Margeaux. But for a middle name, something like that shouldn't be a deal-breaker. Go with the spelling you like.
