A girl I went to high school with (two years younger than me) just had a baby girl.

Mom: Shantel
Dad: Eric
Baby: Madeleine Jean "Maddie"

WDYT?

I like Madeleine, but I think the nick name "Maddie" is overdone.

Good, solid, normal name.

i love the name madeleine but took it off my list because she would inevitably be called "maddie" and i am vehemently opposed to any child of mine being confused with a "madison/maddysen/matysyn"

is it pronounced "mad-a-leen" or "mad-a-line"?

Madeleine Jean is cute, if overdone. But it does remind me of one of my good friends from high school--her middle name was Jean and her confirmation name was Madeleine.

If she's pronouncing it "mad-e-line", she's saying the name wrong. That's my roommate's name and she'll freak out if anyone calls her mad-e-line, because "OMG It's Mad-e-len not LINE."

Aside from that, I think the name is hideously overdone and I really don't like it.

I do however love Jean, which is really common in my family.
