I thought I'd post my latest list of names here. Just a refresher: not expecting, not planning on expecting any time soon. I just like names, ones that usually fall into categories labeled as "classic" or "modern classic", and that are not made up or spelled to creatively. Popularity does not scare me away, either. I like your names. :) My favorites are: Adam, Aiden, Andrew, Lucas 'Luke', Michael, Nicholas, Noah, Owen, Ryan, Thomas and William for boys, and Anna, Ava, Bianca, Emily, Gemma, Isabella, Jane, Katelyn, Lola, Lucy, Megan (spelled this way ^_^) Natalie and Violet for girls. =)

Jack is a nickname for John?

It is. I don't know how, but it is. I like Jack better than John (too many negative connotations), but Jack is so frequently used as a nickname for John that I'd feel weird not using John.

How do you spell Hayley? The only other ways I've seen frequently are Hailey (which makes me think of hail) and Haley (which looks like it should be pronounced HAL-ee).

I've never heard of that.

Hailey is the more common spelling. I think I like it best.
There's also Haley, Hallie, Halley, Hailee, Hailie, Haylie, Haylee, Helie, Haleigh, Hayleigh. Did I even begin to cover them all? Aha.

Jack has historically (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_%28name%29) been a nickname for John. I prefer Jack, but John tends to sound better with middle names, I think.

That's just weird, nicknames are usually shortenings & John is one syllable.
I do recall that piece of info from somewhere actually & disregarding it because it sounded wrong. I think nowadays they're mostly used seperatly.

Andrew has always been common, there are Andrew's everywhere, young & old. My boyfriend's name is Andrew! I guess Aidan is new trendy.. I don't know many Aidan's so was it not for being religiously reading babyname sites I wouldnt have a clue about Aidan's popularity.
There obviously has been a surge in popularity but it's nowhere near Andrew status.
