[identity profile] kkleigha87.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
A girl I went to high school with, who i have recently connected with on facebook, is now married and has a baby boy. Her maiden name is Abbey Ashby but now its Abbey Abrams. Her husband is Grant. Her little boy is Ashby Jay Abrams. I think its cute that she used her maiden name as his first, but im not sure it sounds good with the last name. WDYT?

I concur with the vote for cute. There are surnames that make for horrible first names, but Ashby is not one of them. I think Ashby Abrams is a better than Abbey Ashby. Abbey Ashby sounds TOO matchy.

I'd like Ashby more on a girl.

It works! It can be a bit of a tongue twister, but I think it's so classy. The name reminds of me of polo matches, equestrian boots, and Ralph Lauren, lol.

I used to live next to Ashby, Massachusetts haha. So that's the first thing that comes to mind. It's a lot of a's and b's but it's not bad. I think the husband's name is really nice, Grant Abrams.

My last (maiden) name is Austin, and i always thought it'd make a great first name...but then my cousin named one of his twins Austin (he wasn't one), AND it became so popular. I'm expecting now and if it's a boy i might use it as a middle name tho. :)

My niece's name is Shelton Lynn, for her mom's maiden name. We call her Shell-bell, haha. (My brother is dead-set against "Shelly", it's kind of funny.)

I like it, but I am a pretty big fan of alliteration.

I do agree that it's a little bit hard to say, but it's not too bad, and the sentiment behind it is nice.

i think its cute, too. i always thought my maiden name, Anderson, would be good for a first or middle name.

I don't really like Ashby and the name is a little tongue-twisty, but it's not horrible.

I like Ashby. Ashby Abrams is okay, even though I don't like alliteration. I like the maiden name as baby's first name thing, I've seen that a lot lately.
