What do you guys think of the name Brandish, for a boy?

ETA: This is NOT my idea. This is the name someone is planning to name their child. It apparently used to be a last name -- but not the name of the parents, or a family name.

I can't stand it! I don't like "ish" names at all, and Brandish just sounds horrible to me.

Like to brandish a sword? :)

No.

1 : to shake or wave (as a weapon) menacingly
2 : to exhibit in an ostentatious or aggressive manner

Like I said - no thanks :)

Yes, I thought of the verb too. One of the problems with names like this is that they cast doubt on the extent of the parents' vocabulary...

I knew it sounded familiar and not a name!

LOL. I say things like this:

I don't like to wear clothes from the same store all the time because I don't want people to think I'm super, brandish, or something.

Like "into brands".

No way Jose.

It's like their saying he's Brand-ish.
Like, I'll arrive at Elevenish.

I think I don't like it. If it was absolutely necessary that they use it, it could be a never-used middle name.

I wonder whose last name it was?

Uhm. Well it kind of reminds me of "Standish".

I would be okay with "Brand," even though it makes me think of David Eddings.

Brandish just doesn't sit well with me.
