On one hand, sure. Names are getting weirder and more illiterate, in the effort to make sure kids are speshul snowflakes.

But I know tons of kids who have the same or similar names (maybe all spelled differently, but it all sounds the same). In my daycare class of 14 children, we have an Aidan and a Hayden, a Samantha and a Sammy, and two Abigails. In the other rooms, there are at least three Nolans. And no, you might not have three Michaels and thirty five Jennifers like in the past, but you end up with four Jayden/Jaden/Jaiden/Jaydins. Changing the spelling doesn't make the name unique.

I agree with this. I think names are really diverse if you look at the whole country, but if you look at specific regions or cities or socioeconomic groups, the names cluster. So maybe overall there aren't many Henrys, but walk into the right neighborhood and there will be tons.

Unique names don't make narcissists. Bad parents (and sometimes psychological predilection) do.

And, if we're only defining "unique" as ~James (or the equivalents), then we're far away from creating a bunch of weirdos who are only interested in themselves.
