[identity profile] cremepuff.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
After being without Internet for 3 weeks, it feels good to be back in my favorite community! :)

Another college acquaintance had a baby: Lydia Marie

Some other names I have encountered recently:

Darby (f)
Corbin
Tyler
Alouette (f, not entirely sure of the spelling)
Campbell (f)

All of these were children age 6 and under.

The Alouette is a well known military helicopter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A%C3%A9rospatiale_Alouette_III), that has been through quite a few versions and incarnations now - it has numbers and so on, but the common name is just "alouette". Also, as the Wikipedia article says, it's French for lark - there's a french children's song called Alouette that is commonly taught to small kids (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alouette_%28song%29).

I knew a very nice girl named Lydia, and think it's a cool name.

I like Darcy better than Darby
Corbin reminds me of The 5th Element, but that isn't bad.
Tyler is very 80's to me.
Alouette... um no. It's a bird (from the French song about plucking it) or a cheese dip. Not a name.
Campbell seems like a guys name, but it's alright as surnames for firstnames go.

Lydia is nice. I'm not a fan of the others. Alouette is just ridiculous.

I think Lydia Marie is really pretty. I know a Lydia, but I'm not sure what her middle is. I like Tyler, and I go back and forth with Darby. Campbell and Corbin are completely not my style, and Alouette just makes me think of the French song (my mom used to sing it to me when I was little, she took French in high school). I hope they at least pronounced it correctly.

BTW welcome back!!

I really like Lydia, and I think Lydia Marie is a great combination. I can't use it, because a very close family friend of my partner has a little daughter named Lydia, and we see her a lot. However, I think it's great

Otherwise, I'm not fond of any of the names.

I love the name Alouette, but I'd never use it.

I love Darby and Corbin. Not sure I will ever use them, though.
