I wanna hear all your guilty pleasure (or maybe you have no shame!)

...

Boys Names on Girls or Boy Nicknames from Girls Names

Mine under the

Remy (like more than Renee)
Evan (too girly/popular for a boy
Vinnie (nn for Lavinia)
Billie (would maybe use as a nn for Elizabeth)
Henri (pronounced in French on-ree, middle name for my little girl)
Taylor (I know, so country!)
Ray (nn for Ramona)
Ryan (too girly for a boy IMO)
Darcy (sweet hot girl named Darcy, that'll do it!)

Guilty pleasures! Yay!
For me, they are:

Girls
Alaska
Blue
Caramae
Estefania
Lourdes
Lavender
Mercedes
Odessa
Skye

Boys
Anders
Evander
Leland

As you can see, it's mostly girls. I like a lot of place names and nature stuff, but it's not something I'd actually use...or maybe only as a middle ;)

Jonas on a girl. Just because I really love the name and if I have another baby and it's a girl I'll be temped to use the name anyway.

Harriet, love the name so so much, but avoid it because my son's name is Harvey.

I don't have too much shame when it comes to my names. Kiwi and Bohemia, I think is it. Maybe Jagger, for boys. I don't know how guilty I'd feel about that.

Guilty pleasures... Hmmm...

Delaney on a girl. Maverick on a boy.

These are totally out of my normal style (Felix, Eve, Isadora, Dietrich, those are my style) but I can't help but have them be a bit of a guilty pleasure.

I knew a really sweet girl named Delaney. It suited her PERFECTLY and I think it's a great name for girls.

The only name I like that I'd consider a "guilty-pleasure" name is Yale for a girl.

I love James and Joshua on girls. As far as GPs, most of mine are names I like that have been ruined by popculture - Harry Potter and Twilight are name killers LOL!

Girls
Fabiola — I love it, but I think it's too similar to Fabio for the U.S. to handle
Harlow — too associated with Nicole Richie
Madonna — too controversial
Montserrat — looks too similar to "monster rat"
Persephone — too out-there

Boys
Bruno — too associated with Sasha Baron Cohen
Tristan — sounds too much like "Kristen" for me to use it on a boy

I love Harlow!!!!! Nicole Richie not so much...

Indigo "Indi" for a girl or "Indy" for a boy

Ryan, Asha(for a girl)
Stacey (for a boy)

I'm sure there are more, but can't think of them now!

Ooh, Indigo is a good one! I really like that one, too.

I love girly names on boys. Some of these are more GP than others and I'm not sure I would actually use any of them myself (there are too many less controversial names I love more), but I would love to see others use them.

Dana
Lindsey
Jocelyn (ultimate GP name)
Loren (but my name is Lauren. :( )
Stacey
Mackenzie

On the flip side, girls stealing boy's names is a total no. Example: Quinn
However, I would have absolutely no problem calling a Josephine 'Jo'. I can see Vinnie working for Lavinia, as you mentioned. Oh, and I guess I do sort of have a GP boy to girl name now that I think of it--Cooper. I would cringe at it in real life, but I used to want to write a story about this country girl named Cooper and the idea of her still holds some appeal.

If you don't mind me asking, why are Rose Marie and Alexander guilty pleasures? They seem really normal! Sorry to be nosey. :P

From: [identity profile] alexandria-skye.livejournal.com
rose marie is almost trying too hard to be clever... but then it's a little bland. i don't know... haha.
alexander is a perfectly nice name, but my name is alexandria, soooo... that'd just be a bit weird for me.

Haha, I know what you mean about Rose Marie :p
